FERNDALE, Mich. -- A woman tells Ferndale police she, her son and her grandchild were attacked near her home on Monday.
The victim, who did not want to be identified, spoke with Local 4 about her injuries.
"My knee got messed up. I got a bruise on my elbow, my forehead, my cheek and I have a black eye," she said.
The woman said she was driving with her son, her grandson and the son's girlfriend in the alley just past midnight near her home in the 200 block of East Saratoga Street when she passed by four women.
One of the women in the group hit her car.
She said she pulled over and the four women approached her.
Police said one of the four women grabbed hold of the victim. Two of the other women and the victim's son attempted to pull the attacker off.
The victim said she was punched in the face.
"I went over there and they were fighting my son and as soon as I came around the corner, they hit me and I didn't say a word to them. Then afterward she apologized and I told her I could get her for assault and she hit me again," the victim said.
One of the attackers also bit the victim in the stomach.
The victim believes her attackers had been drinking.
"Granted, maybe we shouldn't have gone over there and said we have a child in the car but that is not a reason to hit someone and attack people and bite them. I mean, what are they? Dogs? It's ridiculous," the victim said.
All four of the women left the scene. The victim said two of the four were primarily involved in the attack. Police are looking for the attackers and the victim hopes the public will help find them.
"You just don't do that to people. There is no reason and with their ages, they should've outgrown that," the victim said.
