ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- A 20-year-old University of Michigan student has reported to Ann Arbor police that he was attacked by a group of men while jogging early Friday morning.
Dan Kelly was jogging at about 12:15 a.m. near the 900 block of Oakland Avenue, just south of Central Campus between Arbor and Arch streets, when he was approached by five or six men.
"I was supposed to meet up with some people and then I was jogging back to my house," Kelly said. "A group of five guys came up to me and asked me how much money I had on me and I said I had no money on me and then they pulled a gun."
Kelly said he had $7 that he started to pull out when he was punched in the face.
Police said the men then fled in a dark four-door sedan.
Kelly said he doesn't plan to walk alone in the future.
"I'd say it's probably good to be with somebody else if you're walking somewhere late at night," he said. "I mean, you never know what's going to happen."
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ann Arbor Police Department at 734-794-6939, or the University of Michigan Department of Public Safety's anonymous tip line at 800-863-1355.
