ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. -- The mother of one of the four St. Clair Shores teens who were killed in an alleged drunken driving crash in March announced several scholarship recipients in honor of her daughter.
Stephanie Currie's mom, Diana Noriega, announced eight scholarships to help Currie's classmates go to college.
The fund was created to memorialize Currie, 16, Ericka Haudek, 15, and Jordan Michalak, 16, and Devon Spurlock, 19.
The four teens were killed when an alleged drunken driver lost control of her Ford Econoline van on Gratiot Avenue, near Masonic Boulevard, and landed on top of the teens' vehicle.
Police said Frances Dingle, 47, was nearly three times the legal limit when she lost control of her vehicle and went airborne, flipping over three times and taking out a light pole before hitting the teenagers' car. At a preliminary hearing, a judge decided Dingle will head to trial in the deaths of the four teens.
She was charged with second-degree murder and driving under the influence causing death.
