Police said a man left the vehicle running in a handicap parking space while he went to help his wife carry out groceries.
Taken with the couple's car was their black and white shih tzu, which was wearing a collar with a city of Wayne dog tag. A wheelchair and walker were also inside the car.
The car has a Michigan license plate of 4104F1.
