Police: Teens Took Van From Parents At Game

POSTED: Wednesday, July 1, 2009
UPDATED: 8:07 pm EDT July 1, 2009

Three teens are in police custody, accused of carjacking and robbing two parents at a T-ball game at Tyrone Elementary in Harper Woods.

Investigators told Local 4 the teens targeted their victims around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspects asked two parents leaving the game in a 2002 Honda Odyssey for directions and then carjacked and robbed them at gunpoint.

“I was just shocked,” said Harper Woods parent Vickie Colley.

Grosse Pointe Woods police eventually spotted the stolen minivan later that night.

Officers chased the vehicle until the driver crash into a fence.

Police arrested the teens following a short foot chase.

The teens are awaiting charges and being held in the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center.
