WESTLAND, Mich. -- Westland police are looking for information on a man who robbed a cash advance store at gunpoint on Tuesday.
The teller told police she was the only person working on Tuesday when a man entered the Advance America Cash Advance on Venoy Road just before 1 p.m.
He asked the teller for an application and then pulled out a gun and told her to give him all the money in her drawer.
He then came around the counter and demanded that she open the safe, said police.
While the teller was trying to open the safe, the man instead made the teller empty out the cash box next to the safe.
Police said the robber ordered the teller to go into a storage room while he fled through the front entrance.
A witness told police the robber was seen walking through the Palace Market parking lot.
Police said the robber made off with $1,200 to $1,300 in cash.
The robber is described as black, between 40 and 50 years old and about 5 feet tall. He was wearing a hard hat, a red and black flannel coat with park pants and a white glove on his left hand.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information. Call 1-800 SPEAK UP or the Westland Police Department at 734-467-7956 to report information.
