PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Pitssfield Township police are looking for the man who broke into two homes over the weekend and then used the homeowner's stolen credit cards on a shopping spree.
Officers said they responded to two reported burglaries at the Hickory Pointe subdivision early Sunday morning.
Terry Dick told Local 4 she doesn't consider herself a heavy sleeper, but she was shocked to find out the brazen robber was in her room while she was asleep.
"We had been sleeping, they had been in our bedroom opening drawers…and in my purse too, taking the cards and money," said Dick.
Ken Chadwick, just a few doors down, said he was also burglarized that morning. Chadwick said the robber also went into all three bedrooms in his home and even woke up his 14-year-old son.
"They like shined a light in my face and I said, 'who's that and they ran out,'" said Lyle McCoy.
However, the robber was not in a hurry, he even took the time to find the McCoy family's suitcases and fill them up with stolen items.
Surveillance images captured a man using the stolen credit cards from the homes at the Meijer on Carpenter Road and the Wal-Mart on Ellsworth Road in Ypsilanti Township around 7 a.m. later that day.
Police said the cards were also used at other stores in Taylor.
According to the surveillance images, the suspected robber was driving a 1990s red Ford pickup truck. He is described as white, in his mid 30s, short and has a thin build.
He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black jeans and black shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to call Pittsfield Police Detective Pam Hamilton at 734-944-4911.
