2 buses carrying students crash in Pittsfield Township; minor injuries

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Two school buses with children onboard were involved in a crash Friday near Morgan and Carpenter roads in Pittsfield Township.

Ten students suffered only minor injuries and were taken to Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. All of the other students were evaluated at the crash scene and were determined to be OK.

The buses were carrying 8th-grade students from the Saline Area Schools district. They were on a field trip.

"It was really jumpy and it all happened really quick and when you just get launched out of a seat it feels really weird," said one of the students.

The buses sustained minimal damage. It appears one bus hit the other from behind.

The students boarded other buses not involved in the crash. Parents were advised to pick up the children at a parking lot at 4900 Carpenter Road.

The 10 students who were taken to the hospital are in stable condition.
