2-day public spaces project draws urban planners, economic developers to downtown Detroit
Project for Public Spaces Leadership Council runs Thursday and Friday
More than 300 urban planners, economic developers and others are expected to take part in a project aimed at improving parts of Detroit.
The Project for Public Spaces Leadership Council runs Thursday and Friday.
Participants will share ideas on topics that include architecture, public markets and local economies, healthy communities and transportation and its impact on vibrant cities.
The Knight and Kresge foundations and Rock Ventures are among the event's sponsors. Rock Ventures is the real estate arm of online retail mortgage lender Quicken Loans.
Last month, Rock Ventures helped roll out a retail master plan for Detroit's Woodward Avenue corridor. The plan includes a series of temporary shops and restaurants. It is part of an initiative to encourage people to live, work, play and invest in Detroit.
