2 face murder charges in University of Michigan medical student's killing

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – A South Carolina man was arraigned on charges Tuesday for the murder of a 25-year-old University of Michigan medical student.

Joie Alexander Jordan, 20, is the second suspect charged with the murder of Paul DeWolf. Jordan faces charges including open murder, two counts of home invasion and conspiracy to commit home invasion.

DeWolf was found shot to death July 24 at his off-campus apartment after failing to report for work at a hospital.

Last week, 21-year-old Shaquille Jones was charged with open murder, two counts of home invasion and conspiracy to commit home invasion.

Jordan's preliminary examination is scheduled for Dec. 12. Jones is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 2. Police have identified three suspects in this murder but only two face charges.

Police say the suspects do not appear to have any prior affiliation with DeWolf, the University of Michigan or the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his medical training and aspirations, DeWolf was an Air Force 2nd lieutenant.

Paul DeWolf was found dead in his Ann Arbor home the morning of July 24. An autopsy later confirmed he was shot to death.
