DETROIT -

Two people are in custody in connection with the death of a 1-year-old boy who was found unresponsive Thursday in a home on Detroit's east side.

Police said more details on the suspects, a man and a woman in their 20s, would be released when charges, if any, were issued.

The boy, Ty Burton, was rushed to a hospital after being found unresponsive in a home in the 19000 block of Keating Street.

Police found the conditions inside the home troubling. It has no electricity and no running water.

"Look at the house you wouldn't think nobody lived there," said neighbor Bobby Brown.

On Thursday afternoon, police were called to the home for an 1-year-old baby not breathing.

Paramedics found Ty with burn marks on his body and rushed him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. On Friday, the medical examiner listed the baby's cause of death as neglect.

Now the mother of the baby and her boyfriend are in jail.

"We have two people in custody, male and female both in their early 20s, on charges related to that scene," said Deputy Police Chief David LaValley.

Neighbors say the family has lived here for less than two years. They say they had no idea what was going on in this home.

"I was wondering what they was doing up in there, you know, did they have heat up in there, stuff like that," said Brown.
