Violent night sees 4 separate incidents in Detroit

DETROIT – It was a violent night in the city of Detroit as four separate shootings left two people dead and two injured.

At 10:45 p.m. Monday a 22-year-old man was shot and killed while walking with a friend near Bliss Street and Kempa Street. Detectives are knocking on doors in the east side neighborhood looking for any information.

"I heard three shots and got up and look out my side window and see one guy was hollering in the street 'help help' and the other guy was laying down dead," said one neighbor who didn't want to be identified.

Then, at 11:45 p.m. a clerk was shot at Ashley's Liquor store on Hayes Street. The suspect was a man trying to steal alcohol, and workers were cleaning up the inside of the store Monday morning.

Many of the store's customers pulled up and were surprised to hear about the shooting.

"Wow, that's terrible," said Atlantis Malika. "I come here every day and there's no problem here."

Shortly after that shooting a man was shot riding his bike on Beatrice Street in southwest Detroit during a robbery. The victim is 74 years old and his injuries are not life-threatening.

At 4:45 a.m. Tuesday a 28-year-old woman was found dead in a driveway on Roselawn Street. She had been shot several times.

Detroit police say so many shootings in such a short amount of time is uncommon. The people who see this violence up close say they're tired of it.

"The last couple of years it is starting to get really really bad," said one local.
"Younger people, everybody starting to get killed. It's terrible"
