Feb. 10th, a 25-year-old resident of Dearborn and a 23-year-old resident of Battle Creek checked into the Fairfield Inn on Stephenson Highway.

As the victims walked to their room, they were approached from behind by a man with a gun.

Police say Lester demanded the couple's wallet, purse, jewelry, phones and keys before he fled in a waiting vehicle.

The victims were able to give police a description of the suspect and the truck he left in.

A Madison Heights patrol officer noticed a truck matching the description and attempted to make a stop, before the truck took off and a chase ensued.

Royal Oak and Ferndale police assisted in the chase that took officers on and off I-75 several times.

The chase ended when the truck lost control and struck a fire hydrant.

Police were then able to apprehend Hauser who was driving.

The passenger in the car fled on foot and police followed footprints in the snow. Lester was taken into custody in a field without incident.

The gun believed to be used in the robbery was found buried in the snow and evidence linking the pair to the robbery was found in the truck.

Police believe the men were involved in another armed robbery in Ferndale three hours prior to their arrest.
