2 men arrested after leading Ferndale police on chase, hiding in yards

FERNDALE, Mich. – Two men were arrested Thursday after leading Ferndale police on a chase and trying to hide on residential properties.

Police tried to pull over a Dodge pickup truck around 2 a.m. on Thursday on 8 Mile Road. Officials said the driver of the truck fled and led officers on a short chase on eastbound 8 Mile Road to northbound Woodward Avenue to Chesterfield Road.

The driver stopped the truck on Chesterfield Road, and he and his passenger ran away on foot, police said. They ran into residential yards, prompting a search from Ferndale, Hazel Park and Oak Park officers.

Jeremiah Alexander White, the driver of the truck, was found hiding in a backyard on E. Webster Street.

Donald William Peterson, the passenger, was found hiding on a garage roof on Jewell Street.

White (left), 25, of Cheboygan, had two misdemeanor warrants out for his arrest. He was driving in violation of his restricted driver's license.

Peterson (right), 24, of Detroit, was a parole absconder on parole for a home invasion. He was arrested for resisting police and a parole violation.
