STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – Sterling Heights emergency personnel found two people dead Friday afternoon at a house on Delvin Drive.
The emergency personnel were responding to the home for a welfare check.
The victims are both men in their 70s. They may be brothers, police said. One was found upstairs and the other downstairs. They had no visible signs of injury. An air test showed the home was safe.
Police said there is no sign of a break-in at the home. The neighbor grew suspicious after not seeing anyone for a week.
"I called the police because I was concerned," said Richard Hample, who lives next door. "I noticed a foul smell, you know, in the yard out here."
The causes of the deaths are not known at this time. Autopsies will be performed on Saturday.
"Just wish maybe I could have done more," said Hample. "But then you know if you don't see your neighbor for a week does that mean, you know, something's wrong?"
Police are investigating.
