2 people injured in apartment fire at Dearborn-Detroit border

Fire investigated by arson unit, officials say

DETROIT – Investigators are on the scene of a small fire that sent two people to an area hospital with burns.

"I looked to my left, saw smoke," witness Alex Hachen said.

EMS was initially called to the scene for reports of a woman with burns. She was found at Warren Avenue and Greenfield Road and taken to the hospital.

A block and a half away, firefighters discovered the small blaze.

"They went up to door, broke door and (the) man had a shirt on fire," Hachen said.

The Dearborn Fire Department was first on the scene. The fire happened on the border with Detroit.

One apartment was completely destroyed, while another was slightly damaged.

The investigation is being turned over to the Detroit Arson Unit.
