2 Delta jets freed after getting stuck in snow at Detroit Metro Airport

Delta spokesman says situations were unrelated

ROMULUS, Mich. – Two regional Delta jets are now free after getting stuck in snow Wednesday morning on the east side of Detroit Metro Airport.

Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant said there were two different situations. One of the connector jet's wings clipped a snow bank and got stuck. The other connector jet's front tire went off taxiway pavement and got stuck in snow.

Airport spokesman Mike Conway said crews used trucks to tug the jets out. Conway said the jets had between 50 and 70 passengers onboard.

A fresh round of snow has been hitting the area for the past several hours, creating slippery surfaces.
