2 men plead no contest in deadly Westland shooting

WESTLAND, Mich. – Two men have pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the shooting death of a 21-year-old man whose body was found in Westland.

Joseph Austin McClendon, of Redford, was found dead March 28 in his car at the corner of Henry Ruff Road and Annapolis Avenue.

Police said fingerprints, DNA and firearm evidence were used to prosecute Arlandus Nolen Jr, his father Arlandus Nolen Sr. and Davion Dix.

The younger Nolen and Dix entered their pleas Friday in a deal with prosecutors that leaves them facing sentences of 28 to 50 years in prison, plus two consecutive years on a felony firearm violation.

The older Nolen is charged with accessory after the fact for allegedly helping his son hide a gun. He's in jail awaiting trial.
