DETROIT – Clouds should decrease Monday night and we'll start our day Tuesday with sub-zero temps -- closer to zero in the bigger cities, and colder (possibly -3 to -7) in rural areas.
Fortunately, wind will be light, so wind chills shouldn't become dangerous. Mostly sunny skies may become partly cloudy for part of the afternoon, but these cumulus clouds will dissipate around sunset. Highs will be near 13, with light and variable wind.
Wednesday starts off bitter cold once again with temperatures between -2 and -9 (fortunately, wind still looks light). Mostly sunny skies become partly cloudy at some point during the afternoon. Highs around 18.
Clouds increase on Thursday with highs around 24. There's a chance of light snow Thursday night into early Friday, but right now accumulations appear to be an inch or less.
Our next chance for snow is Saturday night and some accumulation is possible, but it's too early to determine amounts. After that, our next chance for snow is later Monday into Monday night and, again, it's not possible right now to speculate about amounts.
I do not foresee any big storms for southeast Michigan the next seven days, but these weaker systems are the more difficult ones for the computer models to get a handle on this far in advance.

By the way, if you have travel or vacation plans out east this week, a big winter storm will move up the east coast Thursday into Friday.
