2 taken to hospital due to high carbon monoxide levels in home

SOUTH LYON, Mich. – Two people were taken to a hospital Saturday after the South Lyon Fire Department found high levels of carbon monoxide in a home in the 600 block of Kestrel Ridge Drive.

The carbon monoxide levels were caused by a leaky furnace.

The SLFD says two people from the home were taken to Providence Park Hospital in Novi. There were no major injuries, but they were treated for minor inhalation as a precaution.

Authorities say every home needs a carbon monoxide detector because the gas is colorless and odorless. They also say it's important to make sure your furnace is working correctly to avoid these incidents.
