Anthony Saunders, 41, was reportedly waiting in his bedroom with a handgun when he heard three men break into his home at the 16800 block of Beaverland in Detroit around 4:00 a.m. Sunday.

The suspects fled the scene when Saunders started shooting, but one of them was hit and fell to the ground in front of the man's home, according to police.

The wounded suspect was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are still searching for the other two suspects who escaped from the scene.

Investigators say they have questioned Saunders, but he does not face any charges for the shooting at this time.

Wayne County prosecutors will review the case further.
