PONTIAC, Mich. -- Beyoncé is reaching out to metro Detroiters during these hard economic times by giving away free tickets to her show.
The Grammy-award winning singer, actress and record producer is giving away 1,400 tickets to her concert Saturday at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
Tickets are being given away at the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency in Pontiac.
There were long lines when the giveaway started at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Distribution ended at 5 p.m.
Lauren Moore of Pontiac was happy to be in line because she turned 18 years-old on Wednesday.
"I think it's just fabulous. If you want people to come to your concerts if you're Beyoncé or somebody smaller involved in the community which they are doing and they let us get a sneak peak, because this is my first concert and it's my birthday so I'm sitting out here waiting," Moore said.
Oanita Sumpter of Pontiac was still able to smile after spending many hours waiting in line.
"I'm going to tell you the God's honest truth, I'm not a big Beyoncé fan but I'm standing in line for my baby to get a ticket because I'm laid off work and I couldn't get one, so I've been here since 7:30 this morning to get a ticket," Sumpter said.
Ticket distribution will continue from 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 to 5 p.m. Friday -- if there are any left.
There is a six-ticket limit per person. Free parking is not included.
