FRASER, Mich. -- A 54-year-old Fraser man did not pass GO while playing a game of Monopoly Saturday night, instead he was sent to jail.
Kenneth Anthony Repke was charged with assault and battery for allegedly hitting a woman during a game of Monopoly.
The 56-year-old Fraser woman said she and Repke were playing at a home on the 15000 block of Van Dyke Avenue when Repke wanted to buy Park Place and Boardwalk from her.
When she refused, Repke allegedly slapped her in the face, knocking off her glasses and damaging them, said police.
The woman called 911.
"Yes, I was at my neighbor's house. We were playing monopoly and he hit me," the woman was heard saying on the 911 call. "He slapped me and knocked my glasses off."
When the 911 operator asked if the woman needed an ambulance, she replied; "I don't think so."
According to Fraser Lt. Dan Kolke, " the male subject asked to buy Board Walk and Park Place. She refused. He got angry and slapped her."
Neighbors were surprised and said the woman and Repke would often get together and play board games.
"I thought that was violent for a game that's supposed to be friendly," said neighbor Nicholas Renze. "I guess he (Repke) takes his Monopoly pretty seriously."
A Local 4 News reporter stopped by Repke's home Thursday, but he refused to elaborate on the incident. "No comment," Repke told the reporter, speaking through the door. "I see no reason for this right now."
Repke is scheduled to be in court next week. If convicted, he faces a 93-day misdemeanor.
