Detroit Man Killed In Hit-And-Run

Police Continue Search For Driver Who Hit Man

POSTED: Sunday, October 25, 2009
UPDATED: 10:36 am EDT October 26, 2009

A 47-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run early Sunday morning, Detroit police said.

Witnesses said Keith Jones was walking to a party in the 12600 block of Robson Street near Glendale Street at about 3:30 a.m.

“It was just so fast to the point it was unreal,” said witness Jamar Adams. “The car came down the street, swerved over and hit him … he flew up in the air and came down and the car just kept going.”

Another witness, Craig Smith, said Jones was waiting for the car to pass before he crossed the street.

“He was waiting for the car to pass. But instead of passing, it swerved and hit him,” Smith said.

Jones was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police are looking for a dark, possibly green, Ford Escort in connection with the crash.

Family members returned to the scene Sunday afternoon.

“We just trying to figure out what happened last night, why this happened and who did,” said Jones’ cousin, Anthony Bailey.

Bailey said funeral arrangements have not yet been made, and that Jones’ two daughters will stay with relatives.
