VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A man died in a crash early Monday morning on westbound I-94 near Rawsonville Road in Van Buren Township.
The single-vehicle crash happened about 2:20 a.m. Monday on westbound Interstate 94 in Wayne County, about 25 miles southwest of Detroit.
Images: Deadly AccidentOfficials said in a statement that three people were ejected from the Jeep Liberty when it ran off the road, and one man was killed when the vehicle landed on him. A female occupant was trapped inside.
Two people were taken to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, and another was taken to the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
None of the victims have been identified. Police say alcohol may have been a factor and none of the occupants were wearing seat belts.
One lane of the freeway was closed for much of the morning.
