DSO's Conductor Suffers Heart Attack
The music director of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra received surgery Sunday after a heart attack during a concert, according to a DSO spokesperson.
DSO said Leonard Slatkin, 65, had chest pains during Sunday’s concert with the Rotterdam Philharmonic in the Netherlands.
He was able to finish the performance before going to the hospital where he had surgery to insert two stents.
DSO said Slatkin is recovering well. He is expected to return to the U.S. this week and appear in concerts with the DSO starting Nov. 19.
