WYANDOTTE, Mich. -- A Wyandotte teenager was on his way to school and listening to his iPod Wednesday morning when he was clipped by a train, said police.
The 16-year-old, who attends Theodore Roosevelt High School, was hit by the front of the train at about 7:45 a.m. and pushed off into the bushes.
Witnesses said the teen was able to get up and hobble over to the school's parking lot, where officials called for help.

Wyandotte Teen Hit By Train "Any time a student is seriously injured, it's very alarming," said Jane Allman with the Wyandotte School District.
Witnesses said the teen was covered in blood when he was taken to South Shore Hospital in Trenton. He is being treated for a fractured skull, but his injuries are non-life-threatening, said police.
According to Lt. Bob Heck, the area is a well-known shortcut to the high school.
Nearby resident David Frabutt told Local 4 that he used to cross the train tracks all the time to go to the school when he was younger.
There are four sets of railroad tracks next to the school and students have been told repeatedly to take the crosswalk under the tracks on the Eureka Road sidewalk.
"I am betting that he was probably over by the high school and he was late, because of the time it happened and he was probably trying to hurry to get to school," said nearby resident Theresa Frabutt.
Investigators from the Norfolk Southern Train company were at the scene. However, they would not comment to Local 4.
Police said the train engineer sounded the horn but the teen did not look up until he was hit.
"It's kinda scary to think he actually got hit. I don't know how he didn't know the train was coming though," said Frabutt.
Police said the teen could face a misdemeanor trespassing charge, which is punishable by up to 93 days in jail or a $500.
"He's lucky the engineer saw him and attempted to stop as soon as he did. It could have been a lot worse," said Allman.
