DETROIT -- A historic church on Detroit's west side is asking for help securing the building after being looted and vandalized numerous times.
Greater Faith For Deliverance Church has sustained many winters in Detroit since it was built in the 30s, but since a fire at the church in March, thieves and looters have literally ripped it apart.
Copper thieves have targeted the plumbing, torn the radiator off the wall and stole the panels of the stained glass windows.
"We have spent countless amount of money and time putting this church back together and now its being stripped away from us," said parishioner Andre Hill.
Pastor Andrew Hill said he can't do anything to secure the building until they get the insurance money from the fire.
"What we're trying to do now is just restore," said Andrew Hill. He says the vandalism won't stop them from trying to fix the church.
"When you come in and something like this has happened, you know, it just kind of makes you think someone is trying to hinder us, but we’re not going to let them hinder us," said Hill. "It just lets us know that people need help today,"
If anyone would like to help Pastor Hill secure the building, call him at 248-595-8570.
