Man Attempted To Buy Several Phones Using False Information, Police Say

TROY, Mich -- A 19-year-old Sterling Heights man accused of attempting to purchase ten Blackberry phones was arrested Tuesday on charges of larceny and forgery.
Shaker Jalal Assofi presented forged business name and information documents. Assofi made multiple purchase attempts within the last week and was successful on two occasion, according to police.
Assofi was arraigned Wednesday on identity theft and attempt false pretenses.
A pre-exam conference is set for Monday Nov. 9.
Assofi is currently out on $7,500 bond.
