DETROIT -- A 19-year-old Michigan State University student was fatally struck and dragged by a vehicle Thursday night in Detroit.
Police said they believe the teen was with a group of friends from MSU and they went to the Red Wings game at the Joe Louis Arena.
According to Detroit police, the group was rowdy and security threatened to throw them out of the game.
The victim, identified as Ryan Rosman, fled from the Joe Louis Arena and hid under a nearby bus, according to police.
The teen's friends said they received texts from the teen asking if security had stopped looking for him and if it was safe to come out of hiding.
Police said the teen attempted to get out from under the bus, was struck by a vehicle, and dragged several blocks.
"Even though he's younger than me, I looked up to him, more than he knows," said Jaime Rosman, the victim's sister. "It's really hard for the family right now."
Jaime Rosman, who is also a MSU student, described her brother as "the smartest, most selfless person I know. He would do anything for his friends and family. We relied on him so much."
