DETROIT -- Detroit's main farmers market is hosting an electronics recycling drive as part of a fundraising effort.
The nonprofit group Recycling for Charities will be at Eastern Market on Saturday to collect old cell phones, pagers, personal digital assistants and digital cameras.
Phones must be deactivated.
All types are being accepted, regardless of whether they work.
For each item donated, the market will get a monetary donation.
Disposal of so-called e-waste is a problem because electronics contain toxic materials such as lead and mercury.
