CLARKSTON, Mich. -- The Michigan Snowsports Industry Association (MSIA) has established a program endorsed by Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm that will allow fourth-grade students in Michigan the opportunity to ski for free.
"Fourth grade is the perfect age to learn to ski. Nine- and 10-year-old kids have the coordination to pick up the sport quickly," said MSIA chairman and director of skiing at Shanty Creek Resorts Steve Kershner.
Fourth-graders who have a "Cold is Cool" ski and ride passport and are accompanied by a paying adult will receive up three free lift tickets or trail passes for use at 21 participating ski locations.
The "Cold is Cool" ski and ride passport application, which charges $15 for printing and shipping, can be picked up at participating ski shops or at
www.goskimichigan.com.
For more information, go to
www.goskimichigan.com and click on the "Cold is Cool" or call the MSIA at 248-620-4448.
