Man Extradited From Texas To Mich.
Police Say Uzebekistan Man Was Trying To Leave Country

CANTON, Mich. -- An extradition team returned to Michigan on Monday from Texas with a man 36-year-old who is accused of assaulting a woman he was dating.
Originally from Uzbekistan, Rustam Umidilloevich Ahmedov has been charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and one count of aggravated domestic assault. The assault charge is a 10-year felony.
Ahmedov pleaded not guilty to the charges in front of 35th District Court Judge James Plakas.
Canton police said Ahmedov fled after the Oct. 10 incident to Florida then to Texas, where he was attempting to leave the country.
Ahmedov's bond has been set at $100,000. His next court hearing is Nov. 20.
