ROYAL OAK, Mich. -- The Royal Oak city commission meets Thursday evening to decide on tax abatements to lure Saab to locate its USA headquarters in the city.
General Motors recently agreed to sell Saab to a Swedish ultra-luxury automaker.
That meant that Saab USA would have to move its headquarters out of the downtown Detroit Renaissance Center home of GM.
Royal Oak is in competition with a town in Connecticut to lure the auto company.
The city commission is due to vote on a tax abatement plan for Saab at its Thursday evening meeting.
Leading city officials expect the proposal will be approved.
