DETROIT -- The music heartbeat of Detroit will be fully represented tonight at 6 p.m during Motown's 50th Anniversary weekend at the Detroit Marriott Hotel in the Renaissance Center.
The two-day event was created to celebrate Motown founder Barry Gordy Jr., the record label's amazing music and the Motown family.
Themed "Live it Again", the Motown 50 Golden Gala will feature top-notch performances from the legendary Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Kid Rock. Others scheduled to appear are The Four Tops, Tina Marie, The Contours, Miracles, and Billy Dee Williams.
There will also be a special memorial tribute to posthumous icons such as Michael Jackson, Levi Stubbs, Norman Whitfield and other members who have passed away.
Local 4's own Carmen Harlan will host a program to honor Motown's alumni, followed by presenting them a Spirit of Detroit award. This is also where attendees can receive autographed photos from their Motown favorites.
Tickets for the event will start at $350. For more information and to purchase tickets, please call 313-875-2264.
