FRASER, Mich. -- Some businesses in Fraser are taking a beating from an expensive sewer construction project.
Ground broke on the multimillion dollar project this past summer, closing down Hayes Road between 14 Mile and 15 Mile roads.
City leaders said Friday businesses and residents will have to get used to having the road closures around for a while. The $12.9 million project may take until next fall to complete. Patience is running thin for many residents and businesses in the area.
"It's just very sad they just have this so tore up for so long, it seems to be getting done in segments versus just a one time shot," said Frasier resident Connie Pfalum.
Taylor Ginziki of Paparoni's Pizza said sales have declined so much that the company is offering free delivery.
But not all businesses are suffering.
The nearby Family Video is holding up. But one employee said he's noticed customers aren't happy.
"It's been a little tougher for the customers, we noticed when they come in they're a little more irritated," said Family Video employee Joe Dewalls.
Local 4 learned city leaders may be considering ways to improve traffic near the intersection as construction continues.
