A stretch of Interstate 94 remains closed due to flooding from overnight thunderstorms.
I-94 was closed in both directions at East Grand Boulevard due to flooding Thursday morning. Workers are at the scene pumping out water in an effort to clear the freeway. The westbound lanes have reportedly been reopened.
Traffic was reportedly backed up for miles.
High winds from the thunderstorms also knocked down power lines along West Jefferson, near Dearborn, in River Rouge, Local 4 reported.
DTE Energy said there are no widespread power outages.
About 1 to 1.5 inches of rain fell overnight. Showers are expected to continue Thursday morning, and severe weather could possibly hit the metro Detroit area in the afternoon, according to Local 4's Big Picture Weather. One additional inch of rain is expected.
Thursday's high is expected to reach 72 degrees. Local 4 meteorologist Eric Wilson said the weekend is expected to be dry.
