WATERFORD, Mich. -- Waterford police said they're looking for a would-be home intruder after he was scared away by a homeowner and his dog.
Officers responded to the report of a home break-in Monday at about 9 a.m. in the 3100 block of Brookside Drive.
The homeowner told police he had been sleeping when he woke up to his dog barking.
The homeowner reported seeing a young man trying to get into his bedroom window.
Police said the would-be intruder ran off and the homeowner tried searching for him in his car while calling 911.
Police said another neighbor in the area reported seeing a man who matched the description given by the homeowner earlier in the day. The neighbor said the man had knocked at their door briefly.
The suspicious man is described as black, between 16 and 20 years old, 5 feet 10 inches and 180 pounds. He was seen wearing a black hooded jacket with a gold diamond-type pattern and dark pants.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Waterford Police Department's tip line at 248-674-2677.
