DETROIT -- A man is facing three counts of murder in connection with a recent fatal shooting on Detroit’s east side.
Garland Royall is accused by police of being at least one shooter in the Dec. 28 incident, which took place in a home on Novara Avenue.
A 35-year-old woman and two men were killed. A fourth victim, a 37-year-old Harrison Township man, was also wounded. He remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The murdered woman's family pleaded to the public the day after the shooting for the gunmen to surrender.
"Please, please, just turn yourself in," Lillian Blair, the murdered woman's sister, said last Tuesday. "Do it for her kids. They don't know what they're going to do."
Blair said her sister has seven children who are between the ages of one-year to 18-years-old. "Please, please. For my nieces and nephews, turn yourself in."
Delores Akiens, a family friend, was with the family after the shooting.
"She loved so many people. She helped so many people. Why would somebody do her like this?" Akiens said.
According to family members, the woman was at the home visiting friends when two men came in and opened fire.
Police said the Harrison Township man who survived the attack placed the 911 call from a home near Seven Mile and Hayes Road, saying he had been shot several times.
A neighbor told police she saw two black men get into a Dodge Charger and drive away. According to police the vehicle is a white, four-door model that had a Florida license plate.
"It must be somebody out there that knows something," said Akiens.
The victim's husband, Glynn Daniels, said the family is not sure his wife was even the target.
"Nobody I know of had a problem (with her)," Daniels said. "She was always loved. Everybody loved my wife. I just don't see who would want to hurt her like that."
"They took her for nothing," said Blair. "They took her for nothing."
Daniels said he is still trying to come to grips with the murder of his wife.
"I've been up and I've been down. But I've got to stay strong for the seven children I have," Daniels said.
3 Killed In Detroit ShootingWitnesses told police the suspects seemed to search in and around the home, but at this point the motive of the shooting remains unclear.
Police said they are looking for at least two more men in connection with the shooting.
As of Sunday night, the police and family had not officially released the names of the victims.
