Children Expected To Be OK

POSTED: 9:13 a.m. EDT May 19, 2003
UPDATED: 12:53 p.m. EDT May 19, 2003

Two children reportedly fell from the second-story window of their home Sunday night.

Children Fall Out Window

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. at a home on Ferdinand Street, near Clark Street, in southwest Detroit, Local 4 reported. The children, ages 9 and 1, were apparently in a room by themselves when one of them pushed through the window screen, according to the station's reports.

The children were alert and crying when they were rushed to Children's Hospital by ambulance, according to police.

They are reportedly doing OK and are expected to be home by Monday afternoon, Local 4 learned.

Experts offering advice on keeping children safe from windows suggest keeping furniture away from the window and using window guards.
