John Kelly Accused Of Abusing 13-Week-Old Son

POSTED: Wednesday, February 10, 2010
UPDATED: 4:14 pm EST March 3,2010

A young father was bound over for trial Wednesday for allegedly abusing his 13-week-old son.

John Kelly, 17, was charged as an adult with torture for causing cruel or extreme mental and physical pain in connection with injuries his son was diagnosed with.

Farmington Hills Police Chief Charles Nebus said the baby's 17-year-old mother took him to Botsford Hospital Jan. 21, where doctors contacted police and Child Protective Services after discovering several injuries on the baby.

The baby was transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak for further treatment.

Nebus said the baby's mother is not in trouble.

Kelly is a Farmington High School student.

He is expected back in court March 16.
