Girl Says Stranger Tried To Grab Her Dog, Too

HARTLAND, Mich. -- A 12-year-old told authorities in Livingston County that a man approached her and grabbed her dog by its collar Friday while she waited for her younger brother at a bus stop.

Girl Reports Being Approached By StrangerLivingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte said the incident occurred in the area of Long Lake Drive and North Court in Hartland Township.
Bezotte said the man pulled up and asked the girl to get into his car, but that she turned to walk away and called her dog to follow.
"The suspect addressed the dog, the dog came over to him and he tried to pull the dog and put it inside the vehicle," Bezotte said.
Bezotte said the girl hid behind a mound of snow in a nearby yard until the man drove away as the school bus approached.
"She did the exact thing that you should do -- get away," Bezotte said. "Go up to a house and try to contact neighbors."
The girl described the man to authorities as a white male in his mid-40s, larger build with spiked, gray hair and a mustache. He was wearing black sunglasses and a black leather jacket.
The man's car is described as a light blue four-door model with tinted windows.
