GREENFIELD ROAD, SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- A man accused of robbing a bank earlier this month while dressed as a woman has been arrested, Southfield police said.
Lt. Nick Loussia said 49-year-old Ronald Earl was taken into custody March 24 during a traffic stop.
Loussia said tips from the public led to Earl being identified as the person responsible for robbing a Bank of America branch on Greenfield Road on March 18.
Loussia said Early, wearing red makeup, women's glasses, a burnt-orange wig and black scarf entered the bank at about 2:20 p.m.
"He presented a note to the teller and implied that he had a weapon, announced that it was a bank robbery," Loussia said. "The teller complied. She gave him the money."
He said the teller told police she could tell the person robbing the bank was a man because he had very dirty fingernails and hands that looked like a man's.
Earl was charged with one count of bank robbery and two counts of a narcotic controlled substance possession less than 25 grams. He pleaded not guilty.
His bail was set at $500,000 and he is scheduled to appear next in court on April 1.
He is facing a sentence of up to life in prison.
Police earlier released surveillance photos of the robbery.
