NOVI, Mich. -- Police are asking residents in western Oakland County to be extra vigilant because a burglar is believed to be targeting homes.
Watch:
Neighborhood Crime Alert Issued For NoviNovi police said there was a home break-in on March 12 reported in the area of Novi and 14 Mile roads, then another report of an attempted home break-in on March 16 in the same area.
"One home invasion is too many, and we're aggressively pursuing all leads," said Novi Assistant Police Chief Victor Lauria.
The break-in occurred in the 40000 block of Paisley Circle in the Haverhill Farms subdivision.
Police said a laptop, Playstation and other valuables were taken.
"It was just horrible. We always felt so safe here," said neighbor Linda Walsh.
Lauria said a resident in the area reported seeing a man acting suspiciously while driving around the neighborhood. He's described as a man in his teens or early 20s, and was driving a dark-colored older model Pontiac Grand AM.
The resident told police the men left his car running while knocking repeatedly at the door in the 40000 block of Kingsley Lane. When the homeowner answered the door, the resident said the man quickly jumped in his car and took off.
Lauria said the department is increasing patrols in the area, especially during work and school hours. He added that Novi police are working with neighboring police departments.
