Police: Teen Jailed After Fatally Stabbing Father

Family Members Say Argument Over Pants Led To Stabbing

POSTED: Saturday, March 20, 2010
UPDATED: 10:47 pm EDT March 20, 2010

A 16-year-old boy is held by Redford Township police on a felony homicide charge after he allegedly stabbed his own father to death.

Police said the boy grabbed a knife in the kitchen and fatally stabbed the father after a heated argument.

“I came home last night and there were a bunch of cars. My brother told me what happened. I didn't believe it at first. … He had told me my brother killed my dad," said Allante Clark, the suspect’s brother.

Family members said the boy got into an argument with his 52-year-old father after the father accused him of repeatedly stealing clothing.

“He was taking my oldest sister’s boyfriend’s pants, and her boyfriend confronted my dad about it,” Clark said.

His parents have 10 children. Some of the siblings were home when their brother stabbed their father.

Neighbors described the suspect as sweet, humble and quiet. They saidthey usually see him shoveling sidewalks.

“I’m surprised to hear something like that happened,” said neighbor Richard Hund.

The suspect’s mother said the boy has never done drugs in his life and that he does not remember that he stabbed his own father.
