STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. -- Sterling Heights Mayor Richard Notte vows not to pull strings after his son was arrested for drugs Thursday night.

John Notte (pictured, left), 19, is expected to be arraigned Friday afternoon. Sterling Heights police said he was caught with a large quantity of marijuana by Fraser police, within the Sterling Heights city limits.
Notte and his wife, Margaret, spoke from their Sterling Heights home Friday to discuss their son's arrest. They said their son had only lived away from home for about six weeks and they had no idea he was into this.
"We will stand behind him, we love him and he will take full responsibility for his actions," Mayor Notte said. "And we're going to help him deal with this problem."
The mayor vowed not to pull strings, but said he will be there to help his son face his actions and receive his punishment.
"I can't imagine why he would do a thing like this," Margaret Notte said. " When you do something wrong, you have to pay the consequences."
The Nottes suffered a loss two years ago when their daughter was killed. Andrea Notte, 19, died when her sport utility vehicle collided with a train on
