According to police, Wells walked into a bank in the area of Warren Avenue and Schaefer Road on June 23 and handed the bank teller a handwritten note demanding money. Police said she implied that she had a weapon.

As the teller was gathering money, Wells allegedly fled the location on foot.

Another bank customer called police with the suspect’s location and clothing description. Wells was arrested shortly after.

“We are grateful that a citizen took the initiative to contact the police immediately allowing us to quickly respond and investigate the matter, Dearborn police Chief Ronald Haddad said. “Due to the citizen’s willingness to get involved we were able to apprehend this suspect before she was able to commit additional crimes.”

Wells was arraigned and bond was set a $50,000.
