Two men were taken into custody last week after they apparently attacked a foursome of players at a local golf course, injuring two of them, Local 4 reported.
Police say the incident occurred at The Preserve Golf Club, north of Hartland in Livingston County. Witnesses say two men moved the golf balls belonging to a foursome of players out of the way because they wanted to move ahead of the group. That's when an argument started between the two men and the foursome, according to police.
Witnesses say that without any warning, the two men started swinging their clubs at the group, leaving two men in the foursome severely beaten."Reaction like that is unnecessary ... it's uncalled-for," said David Martin, a golfer. One of the victims apparently had his ear sliced in half in the attack. The other had internal bleeding in his head, according to police.Police say the attack was unwarranted."(The attacker) broke his golf club over the guy's head and then threatened to stab him with the golf club," said Livingston County Undersheriff Bob Bezotte. The two suspects (pictured, right), from Detroit, were arrested at the scene, Local 4 reported.
"The way we responded was to contact 911 immediately and get the Livingston County sheriff out here," said Justin Lauer, general manager of the course. The golf course manager added that he's thankful that no other golfers on the course decided to get involved in the incident."It's a gentleman's game. It's not about trying to play through somebody and trying to injure somebody," said Tom Graber, a golfer. The two victims, from Brighton and Fenton remain hospitalized.
