Three Fire Departments Called To Scene

Three fire departments battled a tough blaze in Hamtramck Thursday morning. The flames were contained, but the historic building that housed The Polish Market is in ruins.
The market and deli, located at 12015 Joseph Campau, was completely destroyed by the fire that may have started in the basement, Local 4 reported.
Flames could be seen for miles around 11 a.m. when the blaze was at its fiercest, according to reports. Other buildings along the block have also been destroyed, Local 4 reported.Hamtramck's fire marshal was transported to a local hospital for possible smoke inhalation, according to Local 4 reports on the scene.Store employees said they were able to leave the building before the building went up in flames.Neighbors stood on nearby porches and watched as walls of the historic building crumbled to the ground.Stay tuned to ClickOnDetroit.com and Local First News at 5 p.m. for more on this breaking story.
