Kevin Ayrhart, 31, a five-year employee of Lincoln Park Schools, was arrested and arraigned Tuesday on one count of possession of sexually abusive material involving a child.

During a routine check of student and employee computers in September, school officials allegedly found child pornography downloaded onto one of the computers used regularly by Ayrhart, according to The News-Herald.

Detective Sgt. Nathaniel McQueen of Michigan State Police Metro South Post was called in and confiscated the computer, the paper reported.

"I took the computer to our Computer Crimes Forensic Unit," McQueen told the paper. "There, they broke down the computer to look at what was stored on the hard drive."

McQueen told the paper that the hard drive contained explicit images of child pornography.

Ayrhart (pictured, above) worked as a high school boy's baseball coach, and as a high school in-house suspension room monitor. At the time of the incident, Ayrhart was coaching the Lincoln Park Middle School football team.

"Ayrhart was immediately suspended of his duties pending the outcome of the investigation," Lincoln Park Superintendent of Schools Randall Kite told the paper.

Based on the computer evidence gathered, McQueen obtained a search and arrest warrant from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. Michigan State Police, assisted by Lincoln Park Police, raided Ayrhart's home and arrested him there, according to the paper.

Ayrhart, who is free on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond, is scheduled to be back in 25th District court Dec. 9 for a preliminary examination.

He faces up to four years in prison if convicted of the felony charge.
